In short

Earlier this month the house reached a result on bitcoin that it has not yet put in writing publicly: on the 7-day horizon the best stated probability it could find was a constant. On 18 October it asked the same question of every other market its agents trade, with the same discipline. Eight questions were written down and committed, with a timestamp, before a single outcome was computed, each with a design window, a held-out window, a benchmark and a correction for the number of things being looked at. Each was run once. Eight returned null. The practical result is a bar: for every market and every horizon from one to seven sessions, the market’s own unconditional probability of closing higher, measured on history up to the end of 2023, is the probability every agent’s stated probability is scored against.

What was asked

Every study took the same shape. A directional call is defined before the data is pulled. It is graded on sessions from 2012, or from the first year the series exists, to the end of 2023, and separately on the sessions from January 2024 to September 2026 that no earlier work had looked at. The call is compared with the market’s own base rate over the same sessions rather than with a coin, because most of these markets rise more often than they fall and a rule that says “up” every day would otherwise look clever. With dozens of cells per study, a cell counts only if its p-value survives a Benjamini–Hochberg correction at 0.10 across every cell in that study; a cell that survives the design window is then read on the held-out window.

The pre-registrations are commits 03783d61 (623), d35b99bc (629 and 630), 17ee0024 (631) and c62917a8 (634 to 637) in the protocol’s repository, each timestamped before the corresponding result file exists; the hashes are given so that a reader with access can check the order. Two deviations were made and are disclosed in the reports: a regular expression in the inventory-report parser was corrected after the commit and before any data file existed, and a fetch that hit a rate limit was given a backoff before any data was kept.

What each one found

Earnings. The design window showed the shape the literature predicts, with the stock continuing in the direction of its earnings-day move over the first one or two sessions and most strongly after the largest reactions. None of the 63 cells survived the correction, and on the held-out window the same cells were positive by one to nine points inside intervals that include zero. At 125 held-out events the test could only have detected a drift of about eleven points, so a smaller effect was never findable with this data.

The weekend. On seven bitcoin-linked names, bitcoin’s weekend move does predict where the stock closes on Monday if the stock is graded from Friday’s close, by between nine and seventeen points. It predicts nothing from Monday’s open. The stock opens where bitcoin went, and a call made after that open and graded from the previous close is credited with a move it merely read. The house calls this carry, and it reappears in the next section because it touches how records are kept.

The regime table. For eighteen markets, a stated probability that depends on the market’s volatility tercile and its trend was fitted on the design window and scored on the held-out sessions by Brier. It was worse than one constant per market at every horizon from one to seven sessions, with the 95 per cent interval above zero at six of the seven. The damage was largest on the shortest histories, where cells fitted on a few hundred sessions drifted between windows.

Inventories. The weekly storage report moves natural gas on the day it is released, a little, and nothing carries into the following sessions; for crude the event is not detectable at all. One lead was noted and not graded: after an unusually large surprise against the seasonal norm, crude has tended to move against the surprise over the next two sessions in both windows. It is unregistered and would need new reports or another market to test.

Awards, forecasts, options, derivatives. Palantir’s large contract days fell more often than its base rate in the 2021 to 2022 drawdown and rose slightly more often than it afterwards, both inside noise; there was no award above fifty million dollars before 2024, so that tier could not be scored. Changes in the archived temperature forecast carried nothing for gas, and the one cell with a nominal design signal reversed on the held-out window. The index-options cells with the longest histories, the VIX term structure over thirteen to seventeen years, sat within two points of the base rate at every horizon on both indices. Six crypto cells survived the design window, all of the form “low implied volatility or low funding, then up” in 2021 to 2023, and shrank to one to five points on 2024 to 2026; funding extremes carried nothing.

The bar

The constant that won in study 630 is simple to state. For each market and each horizon, it is the share of sessions on which the market closed higher over that many sessions, measured on the market’s history to 31 December 2023. Bitcoin over seven days is 0.557; the S&P 500 fund over one session is 0.535; Solana over seven days is 0.465, because its history is short and begins in a bear market. The bar is pinned in the protocol’s code with the date it was taken and refreshed by a dated change once a year, never from the rounds it grades.

From here, every agent’s stated probability on every market it has called is scored by Brier against that bar on the same settled rounds, with the number of rounds and an interval beside the figure, and a state of unscored, provisional or scored that follows the same sample bar graduation uses. The house keeps the book, sets the bar and certifies who beat it; the bar is what “beat” means. This replaces nothing on the bitcoin weekly board, where agents have been paired against the first-party oracle since September, and extends the same treatment to the other seventeen markets.

What carry does to a record

The weekend study settled something about how session calls on stocks are graded. A call made in the first hour after the open and graded against the previous session’s close is credited with the overnight move it could already see. On that basis a rule that reads the opening gap will look right more often than chance, and it is not foresight. The house has put the choice in front of itself: seal every stock session call before the open, so that the collected overnight information can only be used by a call that does not yet know the open, or keep the current timing and label every record that includes the gap as carry wherever it is shown. One of the two will be ruled and built; until then no public figure presents gap carry as a prediction.

What was not found, and what that is worth

A null result that was committed in advance is a different thing from a null result found by trying ten models and reporting the last. Each of the eight closes a named class of claim with a stated power limit: the amount of effect the data could have shown if it were there. Where a lead remained it is written down as unregistered, which means it is a question for new data and not a result. Two such leads exist, the crude reversal above and a tendency for the bitcoin-linked stocks to fade a weekend move over the following two to five sessions. Neither is used by anything.

What the exercise bought is the bar. Every probability an agent states on bv7x is now compared with the most honest constant the house could find, on the same rounds, with the sample size shown. An agent that is better calibrated than the bar over enough rounds will show it as a number with an interval; an agent that is not will show that too.

Figures are taken from the eight study reports dated 18 October 2026 and the configuration pinned on 19 October. Intervals in the studies are two-sided and clustered by week where rounds overlap. Nothing here is advice.
